Allyson Hamblett
I was born with cerebral palsy and enjoy being able to give back to an organisation that supported me growing up.
I work at Māpura Studio, a creative space and art therapy centre located in central Auckland which offers art classes and art therapy programmes for people of all ages living with disability and diversity, as well as the wider community.
My job as a Media Assistant at Māpura Studio involves cataloguing artworks and writing articles that profile artists for the website. I also attend art classes there.
I am also on the Board of Outline NZ, an organisation that supports the LGBTIQ+ communities.
I have been on the Local Advisory Committee since 2010 and became Chair in 2011. I enjoy supporting disabled people to have the same opportunities to do what all people do.
