Dig It! Garden
About Dig It!
The Dig It! Royal Oak Community Garden was established in 1982. Today, this thriving community hub showcases organic and permaculture gardening practises to local schools, community groups and residents.
Visit us
We are open to the public from 9am until 2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Come for a visit and take a tour in our garden. Everyone is welcome!
Ways to get involved
There are a number of different ways you can get involved with the Dig It! community.
Adopt a plot: You can adopt a garden bed to grow your own organic produce. Whether you’re a complete novice or have a serious green thumb, the Dig It! team are on-hand with both advice and support. We welcome all people, including people who have an impairment or who experience a mental illness. As a result, Dig It! is a diverse, vibrant and welcoming community to be part of. All our volunteers are important partners in the overall running of the garden. This can include assisting with the maintenance of the wider site, helping deliver events or providing administrative support.
Attend a workshop: We hold regular workshops throughout the year dedicated to permaculture, sustainability, health and wellbeing. Details of what’s coming up can be found on our Facebook page.
Take a tour: We welcome schools, community groups and other organisations who would like to visit our gardens. Whether you’d like to learn more about how gardens operate, organic gardening or see our accessible garden showcased, we can tailor a tour to suit your interests.
Support our work
If you would like to help us keep this free community resource running, we would love your help to stock the garden with plants and supplies. Can you help us grow our garden this spring? There are also opportunities for corporate sponsorship.
Our latest appeal
We need your help to raise $500 for the Dig It! Garden, to replace our old wheelbarrows and stock the garden ready for summer. 🌞 Donate $5 to grow our garden.
