Available all year, February to December. *Core training for all staff.

An Orientation programme for all new staff is held monthly and run by our Regional Training Coordinators. Join us to learn more about CCS Disability Action, our vision, the people and the way we work in this 2.5 hour interactive Zoom session.

In this Zoom session, you will learn what’s important to us:
1. The way we interact with whanau in communities, in particular engaging with Māori and tikanga.
2. How we promote disabled leadership and disability leadership.
3. The language we use.
4. The CCS Disability Action brand and our vision.

*Supported Lifestyles 1

Each month our Regional Training Coordinators host a Supported Lifestyles workshop for staff who have completed their Orientation training. Supported Lifestyles 1 is the core training everyone who works for CCS Disability Action must complete. It’s an interactive workshop that builds upon your learning from Orientation training in relation to rights, respect, relationships and your role. The Supported Lifestyles 1 workshop gives you the tools to best support disabled people and whānau to have increased choice and control in their lives

You will gain knowledge around:
1. The Supported Lifestyles approach and the Four R’s.
2. An Enabling Good Lives approach, how to support a person to be more in control of their life.
3. Respectful language and behaviour expectations when supporting people.
4. Identifying your own values and recognising how these may influence your behaviour around others.
5. Supporting a person to build a good life and have valued roles in their community.

The workshop is held on a monthly basis, over four weekly sessions on Zoom (12 hours total).  We expect all staff to attend this essential training. If you want to know more about it, please talk to your line manager or the Regional training Coordinator.

*Verbal De-escalation Training

1st Tuesday of the month from 7th February 2023 (9.30am – 12pm)

Audience: NLT, Snr leaders Administration, E.I. teams and staff on SL under 19 contracts.

*Crises Prevention Intervention Training

2nd Thursday of the month from 16th February 2023 (10.00am – 2.30pm)
