Ralph Gibson

I became a local committee member of the South Taranaki branch in the late 1970s after the birth of our second child, Samuel, who was born with a physical impairment. The then Crippled Children’s Society played a very positive role in our family, and my wife Janice and I felt we wanted to give something back to the organisation.

After several years on the committee, including time as Vice President of the CCS Disability Action National Board, I became Chair of the South Taranaki branch. I continued as a member of the Local Committee with a focus on finance and more recently was Chair of the Central and South Taranaki branch.

Janice and I were in business in South Taranaki for over 40 years, selling out a few years ago to make time for other things. Life is still busy – I’m a company director of a number of private companies and continue to hold governance roles in other charitable organisations.
