Dairne Kirton

As Chair of the Head Trust, following my tenure as the organisation’s National President, I bring unwavering leadership and a lifelong commitment to social justice. As a proud Māori woman with lived experience, I possess a strong equity lens.

My whakapapa connections to Te Tai Tokerau Northland give me a deep understanding and support for the importance of community wellbeing.

My career spans decades of service and experience in disability and health sectors, governance, advocacy, and amplifying disabled people’s voices. I champion rights-based approaches and ensure decision-making reflects the aspirations of those I serve.

I strive to be thoughtful and have a steady presence that fosters trust and open dialogue – ensuring people feel valued. Compassion, humility, and a commitment to collective success and inclusive communities are my paramount core values.

I’m a proud mother, grandmother and advocate. I have my own business, Life’s Abilities Coaching, and work as an Accredited Life Coach and Facilitator. I draw strength from whānau and community. Whether in boardrooms, hui, or friendly kōrero connections, I feel a deep sense of duty to uphold others, foster lasting relationships and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future for Aotearoa.
